Listeria plasmidome

Category: IM Seminar

Abstract: Bacteria of the genus Listeria (phylum Firmicutes) include
both human and animal pathogens, as well as saprophytic strains.
Listeria chromosomes have a stable, conserved genetic structure and show
limited integration of foreign DNA, which suggests that plasmids may
play a vital role in the shaping of the pangenome and phenotypic
variation of bacteria from the genus Listeria. Plasmids isolated from
various Listeria species were analyzed.  Their structure, diversity,
conserved backbone and additional genetic load was studied in-depth.
