Dr Ewa Poniecka from the Department of  Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology got a NCN MINIATURA 5 grant. Congratulations !!

The project entitled “The biodiversity of psychrophiles in face of climate change based on the example of disappearing glaciers in Turkey” aims to determine the biodiversity and activity of glacier organisms which is still relatively poorly understood. Many glaciers, such as those found in Turkey, are largely unknown in this regard. The pilot studies carried out as part of the MINIATURA competition will allow for the initial characterization of environmental niches and the biodiversity of microorganisms on the glaciers in Turkey.
